Making a Roman Wax Tablet (it's like a notebook but from the medieval ages)

PaulaUp March 10th

Hi,

over the last few weeks I made this wax tablet. It's red cedar, that I carved out to pour in a wax and olive oil mixture. The carving out took forever. But the pouring in the wax mixture and drilling some holes to connect the two wooden pieces went very fast. I also made a stylus. It's a wooden pointy tool, like a pen but to leave marks of one's writing in the wax. And at the other end it has a flat spatula like tip to "erase" anything written.

Maybe there's another wax tablet enthusiast out there :) Or this might be new to you, like it was to me a few weeks ago. I just think it's ingenius to be able to write and erase anything and be able to use it for basically forever. And not have to charge it like electronics. I always forget XD
