Art block

Hi everyone!

I've lost the passion and motivation I used to have when making stuff. I used to love creating: costumes, photographs, illustrations, ... Since that I feel depressed (around few months ago), I couldn't actually enjoyed anything that used to make me feel good... And I wish I could find a way to have my passions back and feel happy again... Art was the only thing that kept me alive all these years, and I've just lost it...

Hello 👋 I to took a lot of joy in creating and just lost the inspiration and love for it over the last year. I’m still trying to find my way back to it, but made a little progress today. I cleaned my space and my desk. Organized all my supplies, got rid of clutter. I think taking care of my space helped with my anxiety a bit, and I was able to focus on a few small doodles after accomplishing something I’ve been putting off.

I hope you find some ideas to help you come back to your creative. I understand how important it is, and how much it can hurt to lose.

Thanks for your reply. I'm happy for you if you find a way to accomplish some doodles, you can be proud of yourself! I hope so too one day.

@brokenartlostmind art and crafts is my whole life too ❤ I been in a bit of a block since xmas but then the other day, one of my carers asked me to make a sentimental gift from her to her daughter for her daughters birthday, now I'm on project 2 and I feel so happy.

I'm not sure how it works with you, but usually I think something up in my mind and draw or make it. But when I get little periods of no passion or motivation, I find the best way, is to not push yourself, one day, at some point a brilliant thought will pop into your head, and you'll be back to your artistic self again ❤

@brokenartlostmind I'm similar, I published 13 books then had a nervous breakdown. Now I never write. I cannot get myself to do it even if I want, perhaps writing too much contributed to it, so I don't want to do it anymore? I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the tip waffle, the day's been alright I guess, I actually tried again to draw today, it was a long time I haven't drawn anything, but I dislike what I made but I guess it's one step at a time ...

@brokenartlostmind sucks. Maybe could try emotion releasing of some kind. I forget where I saw but some writer was saying they never get blocks because when the block comes up they deal with it right away somehow, writing all the thoughts they're having out about the block, how angry and frustrated they are, all the toxic and abusive thoughts no matter how chaotic they are because once they've had their full expression they're tired out and the creative process can continue. It probably will take some time to convince your wild thoughts that this is how it's gonna be from now on but that's not the only place I've seen this concept success. If you try it let me know how it goesÂ
