Hi everyone! At 7Cups, we encourage our leaders to take breaks because self-care is a top priority. As a result, our Academy Mentors may occasionally go on break. This post will help keep you updated on those changes. If a mentor's name is not listed, it means they are no longer an Academy Mentor for this program. Mentors who are ACTIVE are coloured blue while those who are ON-BREAK are coloured Red.

Thank you for joining the Flourishing Challenge!
Flourishing is the gold standard for measuring well-being. It is a multi-dimensional concept that refers to the process of making an active effort to pursue key well-being areas such as positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment. We are grateful to have you join us on this journey.
Researchers from Harvard University have designed a Flourishing test that helps us assess how much we are flourishing in our lives. Their research and assessment closely relates to 6 main areas:
(1) Happiness and Life Satisfaction
(2) Mental and Physical Health
(3) Meaning and Purpose
(4) Character and Virtue
(5) Close Social Relationships
(6) Financial and Material Stability
You can now assess your flourishing levels using Harvard's assessment via 7 Cups here [https://www.7cups.com/assessment/Flourishing] - the results will help you keep track of which areas you are doing well in, as well as areas that you can improve in.
The best part is that this current Flourishing Challenge explores all of the above-mentioned areas! We hope your experience at 7 Cups helps you thrive more.
You can keep track of your flourishing levels by exploring your personal private timeline (click here [https://www.7cups.com/path/]) and comparing your flourishing level progress - remember, flourishing may have its ups and downs but the key here is to keep doing small things for your overall wellness journey! We will retake the flourishing test throughout this challenge and you can also take it at regular 2-week intervals if you like. This is a glimpse of what the timeline results display looks like:

✨ What is Well-Being?
Common definitions of well-being portray it to consist of elements that bring about states of happiness, satisfaction, decreased distress, as well as good health and functioning. This includes feeling content, having a sense of meaning and purpose in life and over personal life experiences, as well as having positive, healthy relationships and experiences with others.
Subjective well-being refers to an individual's personal acknowledgment of the level of happiness (and positive emotions/feelings) and life satisfaction in their life, including overall perceptions as well as individual perceptions relating to specific life domains or areas.
When we speak of well-being and happiness, two main perspectives are used. At first, the hedonic viewpoint focuses on well-being as seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. On the other hand, the eudaimonic approach focuses on well-being as self-realization and finding meaning, and so views a person's functioning as the main focus. Overall, in order to flourish and thrive in life, both perspectives of happiness/well-being (hedonia and eudaimonia) are important. Thus, well-being is a vast concept that covers the elements of optimal health and functioning.
✨ The PERMA Model of Well-being
The PERMA model has elements that help us define well-being:
Positive Emotions: What makes you feel good? Experiencing positive emotions relating to our past experiences can be done through gratitude and forgiveness. We can use mindfulness to stay in tune to and experience positive emotions in the present, and resources like hope can invite positive emotions regarding the future. However, it is important to remember that our capacity to experience positive emotions may be limited depending on different factors.
Engagement: Which activities are rewarding to you? Engaging experiences relate to a "flow" state wherein a person feels like time is lost and the sole focus/experience involves engaging with the moment with one's skills and complete attention.
Relationships: Who are the other people who share your positive experiences? Strong positive relationships are connections that not only enhance our feelings of belonging but also contribute to our well-being.
Meaning: What gives you purpose and makes your actions worthwhile? Contributing to something bigger than ourselves invites a sense of value in our lives and allows us to focus on what is important even in the face of challenges.
Accomplishments: How can you achieve your goals? Achievements, particularly accomplishments done for their own sake, enhance well-being by inviting a sense of pride. This element includes self-motivation, interest in mastery goals or competence, and goal pursuit.
✨ The Flourishing Connection
Flourishing is then defined as a multi-dimensional concept, and is not a characteristic or trait, but a process that anyone can start experiencing after making an effort to pursue PERMA and enhance well-being.

(2) Analyze your PERMA elements:
(i) Positive Emotions: What makes you feel good?
(ii) Engagement: Which activities are most rewarding for you?
(iii) Relationships: Who are the other people you share your positive experiences?
(iv) Meaning: What gives you purpose?
(v) Accomplishments: How can you achieve your goals?

The Pleasant Life refers to having contentment with the past, happiness in the present, and hope for the future. Use the following exercise to reflect on the past and present as well as envision a positive future:
1) Think deeply of a moment in the past during which you felt at your best. Reflect on this moment and write about it, including what made you feel at your best and other positive emotions you experienced.
2) Now think deeply about anything currently happening in your life that you feel happy about. Reflect on this present situation and write about what is happening, including the positive emotions you are experiencing.
3) Finally, envision a time in the future when you will be at your best. Reflect on the future and your future vision and write about what makes you most hopeful.

Hi everyone,
The Flourishing Challenge is our latest community challenge designed to help you assess how you are thriving and what areas you can improve in to boost your flourishing. Our wellness involves a journey and we are always excited to further support your journey with research-backed tools and strategies.
