Phone Screening for Job

wandamx26 October 2nd

So this morning I had a phone screening from a recruiter for a job agency for the federal government. She told me the position was for the US Office of District Attorney's, but they don't interview. They only hire based on resume and I might get an offer today or tomorrow. I am hesitant in taking the offer because I feel like it is a scam if I can't interview. Plus the recruiter didn't sound professional when she was messaging me on Indeed and it was at 3:00 am in the morning my time. Also for a receptionist job, the pay sounds too good to be true.

@wandamx26

Sounds odd with time thing on indeed. Have you googled the group the recruiter works for.

The recruiting for most gov positions is in one location and is EST.   When ever i have spoke to any recruiters i always look them/ their employer up and read reviews.

In your phone interview did they ask you any personal info like your SSN or other info? then it may be a scam ... if you have the phone # they called from you can also use a reverse directory to verify where call came from

It was a phone screening so not really like a formal interview. They didn't ask for SSN but they also informed me that there was a background check requirement that could take from 4-8 weeks and is completely done online. I did look up the recruiting company and it did have some bad reviews.

@wandamx26 Hey I am just curious, did you ever hear back? Was this legitimate or a scam?  I am just curious because I did some applications on indeed also, and sometimes it has worked and was legitimate, most of the times.  It does sound a bit weird they wouldn't require an interview. I never heard of that

When I got the offer, I immediately withdrew and never heard back ever since.
