Love my new company, so why am I still depressed?

QuiteOne815 September 19th

I recently moved from a company that I had some traumatic experiences with and was doing a number on my mental health. Now I am with a new company- a great company- one that cares about their employees, but I am still struggling getting to work. I don’t want to lose this new job.

When a person has a bad or toxic job it leeches into everything else it takes more then a new job or surroundings to clear it from your system. Perhaps you are leery as i am sure at one point at first you thought last company was good or OK only to find in a while what is really like.

you can work on letting go ... and embrace each day as a new opportunity for great things.  Keep an open mind as i found when i left a bad place it made me look for bad things in my new job.  jobs will always have issues even good companies but we have to look at balance that you have more good days and can sail through any bad ones.

First of all, I'd like to applaud you for making the decision to leave a toxic company that was putting your mental health at risk!

With your new company, it's always good to have nice employees that work with you, ones that seem more understanding and willing to listen to your needs. At a new company, do try your best to leave the bad experiences from the previous company in the past. Start fresh with this new company, almost like, starting yourself from a blank page.. Allow yourself to face the new company on this new page, it's the next chapter of your life.. Give yourself the time to adjust, be glad that you've left the previous company for a better one that you're now in.

Sorry to hear you feel like that, despite making some positive changes in your life. However, I am afraid without knowing more about your situation and circumstances taking a guess would be a shot in the dark.

If you suffer a depression which is severe, it can work bad for your wellbeing, no matter the environment is improving.

If you are taking any medications, they may tone down your your ups as good as the downs.

When a friend of mine was cured in a mental health institution for anxiety and panic attacks, coming back to work she was afraid to be stigmatized.

If you are used to live and/or work in a difficult environment (being for example, an ACoA or a person whose boundaries were often broken), you may feel insecure and not self-confident while navigating into the world of unknown.

Also, it could be a kind of grief: maybe now, when you may finally feel safe and sound, you need to mourn the bad things you experienced in your past job?

No company is perfect, but it is always nice to experience 'the wow! effect' at the beginning and be excited to meet some new people. It is useful to know when the troubles just come and go, and when the situation changes from bad to worse, and there is a need to bail out.

But for the moment I hope you'll find some pleasure in your new job :)
