Am I where I’m supposed to be ?

I was treated great when I first started my job many years ago. Over the years, I’ve experienced bullying, unfair treatment, unfair disciplines, and now people acting like they’re not part of the reason I finally gave up and just do the minimum. I would leave if the right situation presented itself.

@Redda

Unfortunately you have described IMO many or most workplaces ........ people who do not do but love to hold you to doing this or that people who do not put in effort but then are confused when others join the bare minimum club.

Many people leave to go find a better place or situation only in a year to see it is similar just different names of co-workers... if you are semi happy / paid ok and decent commute ask yourself if you can do what you need to to make this work.

I agree most places are the same. This one of the reasons that prevents me from moving on.

It sounds like you used to love working where you are, but over time it has become a place that you have been taken for granted and not appreciated as well as criticized and been put down.

What do you love about where you work or what you work on?

Is there anyone at your place of employment that you feel really connected to?

If there was the possibility to change some things that would move it back toward what it was like when you started, what would be the top 3 things?

As you think about the supervisors and management there, is there anyone who would be open to hearing feedback on the difference between when you started and now?

It's unfortunate that you have found this to be less than satisfactory at this time, because it sounds like it used to be very rewarding. I asked these questions because of the title of your post. Your title sounds like you're wondering if this is the right place to be or should you move on. In my experience, it seems like questions help to sort that out. The other things is looking at the pros and cons of staying, and the pros and cons of leaving.

Sometimes, we get to be the agents of changes, and sometimes we need to know when to move on. I hope you will be able to figure out what you are supposed to do for you. I'm really glad you posted about what's going on for you. I'm sure there are many others struggling in similar situations that can relate to what you are going through and trying to decide whether to stay or leave.

I hope you will share with us as you assess your options and what options you have, so we can support you.

I used to look at myself first and ask what I could do differently. I believe that actions speak louder than words. Some like to apologize without the actions to back it up but I’m not like that. I used to double down on my efforts and work harder to fix whatever I could. It was always a “this too shall pass” and I could ride through it.

This season seems to have me feeling lost and confused.

I agree that asking myself those questions is necessary.

Right now, I’m torn between making changes where I am so it is bearable to stay or just starting over elsewhere.

Your input is helpful. Thank you.

Keep talking it out and sharing. Sometimes talking it out helps to figure it out. You are worth your investment of time and energy - and whether you stay or whether you choose to go elsewhere, you are worth the time to make the decision.

Sending you good thoughts for the right decision and clarity and discernment to know what to do.
