Anxiety due to introversion?
Hey everyone. Today I'm here to share my big discovery. lol.
I'm a college student and I have classes every day and being the introvert that I am, I kind of just manage to get by and sure some days are worse than others and some are better. Sometimes I find myself feeling like I NEED to skip classes and I was never too sure why. But then it hit me one day.
I have people over every single weekend. Usually family members but still let's classify them under "guests". Meaning, I have no mental break or time to be alone with myself and just relax and I feel like that's really what's causing me anxiety and makes me want to skip classes sometimes more than once in a week.
Also, my family is really selfish so they don't care much about whether I or anybody else wants to rest and relax for the weekend, so they just come over. :)
Does any of this make sense? Is it possible that I'm skipping school so I would stay and charge batteries? Or is this just a bit stupid?
Do share your thoughts and opinions because this has been happening for awhile now.
@LilSun Well, I think that the introversion could be one of the reason you feel the need to stay away because you want some time for yourself. I don't think it's stupid though but then again skipping class for too many times is not good :D
But hey, I also at times really feel the need to skip classes though the reason is not because there is too much person in class though and definitely not because I'm lazy to attend class. It's definitely more or less the same as you do. I just feel the need to do that at times :D
@Minyaa Thank you for your input. Helps to know I'm not alone in this :D
@LilSun Well, there's more than 7 billion people in the world by now. You're never alone :D
@LilSun
Hello sorry to hear that you are anxious. It makes sense that you need a little time for yourself to recharge your battery. Take a Sunday and relax. I run a business, attend college full time, and have to give my attention to my wife of 24 years and still am very involved in my adult childrens lives. I feel overwhelmed sometimes but I try to take a day for myself usually Sunday. Good luck to you
Hi @LilSun i wouldnt say that the introversion specifically causes the anxiety but it does effect it. Everyone needs their own space and some alone time to just unwind. instead of skipping school why dont you speak to your family and let them know you feel like socialising a specific day or just feel like being alone a while. Maybe taking short walks alone from time to time can also help lear your mind
@LilSun Hi! Everything you said makes sense. I feel that it is normal to feel overwhelmed if you never have time to yourself. There is nothing wrong with feeling this way.
Maybe you should try telling your family how you feel or let them know on a certain day/days that you are taking some time to relax or have something planned.
Having a close family is a great thing but it is okay to need time for yourself.
