'You Can't Make a Joke These Days Without Someone Getting Mad'
Jokes. Sometimes they're funny, other times they are definitely not. I make people laugh a lot, but the one thing I don't do is make fun of people's traumatic or disadvantaged lives. I don't find injustice something to be made fun of either. It is very dissapointing that there are a lot of people who would rather make fun of the significant struggle of some other person (or group of people), than to be thoughful about it in hopes of contributing to help others overcome it (or at least carry on trough it).
Of course jokes are often used as a form of escapism. But I'm finding that the people who want to escape the most, are the people who aren't sufferring the way others are. I guess it's too hard to care about other people, it's easier to make fun of them and laugh over their painful past, present, and/or future.
Had this on my mind for a long time.

Hi there! It is important to know the line between jokes to make others laugh and jokes that would trigger the person. It is not fun making fun of others struggle. In fact, it could just cause more pain. I think everyone goes through enough stress, struggles or any problem for them equally and based on what a person can handle. People would tend to make fun of their own problems to reduce it or at least feel better, not necessary they are going through less pain. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you. You're right, it is important to recognize how far things shoudn't be taken. But people do not really care about that like they should. Like you wrote, joking is a way that people temporarily remove themselves from their pain, but others shouldn't join in. I agree with how you said that a person making a joke about their own situation, doesn't make their pain any less that it truly is.
