What is wrong with ME‼️

I'm 87% introverted and I'm a mediator. I dislike socializing and making new friends. It makese nervous. Sometimes, I go weeks without having any form of communication with other people. I have a daily routine of waking up, eat, go to university and come back to my hostel. I love reading Novels, they make me feel like I'm in another realm. Sometimes, the loneliness sets in and I feel a little bit depressed (maybe an exaggeration or not). I question the reason why I am like this, or I even wonder why I am so different. It's so exhausting. I also hate going out. It's frustrating when I misinterprete people's behavior and it almost leads to an argument. So, I rather prefer being alone.

Hi there @Veektoria! I can understand the introverted feelings and behaviors as they happen to me at times as well. Have you ever spoken ti anyone about the feelings of depression?

  1. @NewHorizon5544 Thanks! No, I haven't. I am still not sure if it is depression because I think it's normal. Just being an introvert. Could I be depressed?

@veektoria It may be helpful to speak with a doctor or therapist to be sure. Even if it is not depression, it could feel food for you just to vent and have an their opinion on your situation.

Hello,

Just my two cents but maybe you are comparing yourself to others who may not be as introverted as you are, and that makes you look at yourself in a negative way-which leads to you feeling bad about yourself.

I think what you described about yourself and what you like is awesome and should be embraced and appreciated. It’s what makes you, you. I am the same way when it comes to being introverted and preferring staying home reading a good book then going out. But there is nothing wrong with that. It’s just how we are. As long as you are happy when doing those things, that’s all that matters.

I can relate with the lonely feeling once in a while because of the introvert personality. One thing that actually helped me was joining a local book club since I love books. I didn’t have high expectations about it but I actually met some really cool people and realized that there are a lot more introverted and likeminded people out there! Wish you the best!

Hello. I completely relate to you post. I too am really introverted and love to read. I love making friends and meeting new people but keeping them I suck at. Like the other comments state we might just be introverts and that’s okay. I wish we had a simple answer to have it both ways. Connecting with people but not be exhausted. Maybe we’ll find out balance one day of solitude without the fear of missing and loneliness. It’s best that we take baby steps and find our connection. Take care.

Thank you everyone. Also I don't know how to hold a conversation. There was a time I put my phone to airplane mode for 4 months because of that. Do you still think it's normal?

@Veektoria it sounds like you experience anxiety when you are around other people. Do you think your thoughts about other people's behaviors are exactly true?
