So I haven't been out for 4 years..

abiii346 November 29th, 2017

I'm 22. I had a botched operation at 18 that left me with an incurable disease. I panic when people come to the door and I don't go outside, no, not even a little. And I haven't for years.

Finally decided I want a life again so looking for any help/info/tips&tricks that help deal with anxiety and panic attacks.

Also, anyone, that deals with chrons, that'd be useful. Dr thinks I also have chrons so.

Hi @abiii346,

Anxiety and panic attacks are miserable things to have to deal with. I personally have anxiety, and if my anxiety gets bad enough, I have panic attacks. From my own personal experience, I've noticed that doing my self-care activities really help me. Are there things you do that make you feel happy and fulfilled? Try to do more of those things, especially when you're feeling anxious.

Also, I've noticed that there are times when anxiety and panic attacks will be worse than other times. Usually, for me, there are triggers that set off a wave of anxiety. Something that helps me get through the wave (or waves) of anxiety is telling myself, "This exact moment will never, ever happen again." (Of course, a similar moment might happen, but the same exact moment will never be repeated.) It helps bring me into the present moment and accept how I feel.

I wish you all the love in the world!

@modestBike3436 it happens everytime I go outside! Haha, but I did push myself and went out all day yesterday (first in 4 years)!!! And I've just finished hypnotherapy and I haven't had a panic attack :o

im just worried it returns.

I don't know how to cope when it happens? I have my iPod but that's about all, I have no like 'strategies' which is why I came here :)

thankyou for the response :D

not nice to know other people suffer but it's nice to know everytime I get that ' the world is ending ' feel it happens to others and the world didn't end haha

You're not alone so many people have panick attacks. Is something truly toxic and that consumes people's lives.

Your situation is quite a particular one but I'll give you some examples of what I do when I have a panick attack, maybe it might help :)

One time I went to the hospital and a doctor there taught me breathing exercises. Is self explanatory right? But my advice is doing them and repeating to yourself good things like "I'll be ok, no one will hurt me, I am happy, I am healthy, I am safe". Your brain is a fantastic and smart thing, if you convince your brain that you're ok, your body will also be ok.

Another thing I thought was important is how you can stop a panick attack. The human body can stop a panick attack in 3 minutes easily. If you do breathing exercises like I said, or chant mantras, use a stressball, anything really and you convince your brain that you're ok, your brain won't send the signals to your body to panick. So within those 3 minutes you can easily stop it .After I found it my life got a bit easier.

I'm not sure if all I said will help but hey doesn't hurt trying ^^

Also if you can update me on his I would be so happy, would like to know if it helped you!

I wish you the best darling, the world outside is truly beautiful and it deserves to know you, just like you deserve to know it
