My parents don't care

I've never been one to ask my parents for help for anything, especially not homework. But lately I'm very behind with assignments and I have one assignment that I'm really struggling with. It's a 5-hour assignment due to Monday and I only have tonight free to make it, and I asked my parents to help me get started by just reading the story, that I'm supposed to be analyzing, but they told me they were busy and they would look at it tomorrow though they know I'm behind already... I feel like they don't care about me. :-(

@PenguinFriend8880 It must be really rough for you right now. Is there any way you'd be able to ask your teacher for an extension on this work, even just by a day? If you explain, usually a teacher will be understanding.
Stay strong! School sucks!

@PenguinFriend8880 Sorry, it sounds like you're having a tough time! I hope that you got your assignment done and its behind you now, but if not, I agree that asking your teacher for an extension is probably your best move, they are often more understanding than people expect them to be! *hugs* :)

@PenguinFriend8880 It is hard to feel like your parents do not care, are not supportive, or are unattentive to your needs. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing that. If you feel like this happens a lot, can you talk with them about it? Do you have other adults in your life that you trust and can turn to for advice or mentorship?

My parents were not very supportive when I was growing up, but I found some support in an aunt and uncle, and I also had a couple of teachers that I really liked at school. Needing love from your parents is real. But if you can reach out to others to have some of your needs met at times, it can really be nourishing and helpful. I hope you are able to find some support and kindness.

It must be very upsetting when you feel like your parents don't care about you or don't want to make time for you. However, have you tried talking to them about how this is making you feel and how it's starting to affect your wellbeing?

If you need to chat, feel free to message me whenever :)
