Job hunting and anxiety

intuitiveWater6984 August 30th, 2018

Does anyone have any tips on how to manage anxiety while looking for a job? I've recently graduated with a bachelor degree and I'm now looking for a job in my field. If I'm being honest I'm not even sure that I want to work in the field, but then again, I don't realy want to work with anything... The problem is that every time I start looking through ads for jobs I get so anxious that I often can't even send in an application. I feel like I'm not qualified, that I'm bound to fail, and I don't want them to even call me in for an interview. But I need a job! I feel really stuck....

Has anyone been in a similar position? Have some tips?

Me TOO , all what you have mentioned, so i think it is about that we think ourselves not worth it , we dont deserve .. But that is not true, i say give the fears a slap by a real work , send applications and send alot of them, go for different institutions dont fear any of it !!

@Mypriorityis
That is very true! It's hard to apply to jobs when you think someone else could do it better and that someone else wants it more and therefore deserves it. It's a real stupid way of tinking! Thank you for your understanding words

OMG Have I been exactly where you are!! Just a year ago I graduated and was in the exact same position. I was so anxious and overwhelmed I practically had a breakdown or two every week. I also was pretty sure I didn't want to stick with my field forever, but I had to get going with something. I lucked out with a good internship opportunity that turned into long-term employment. It turns out that I don't enjoy it much at all, but it has been a really valuable learning experience for me. Soon my office will no longer exist and we all have to look for other opportunities, and that puts me in this position again :( Even though I hate the idea of having to look for, interview for, and start a brand-new job, whatever happens I'm hoping that overall it will be one step closer to discovering where it is I really want to be. You may have to go through this storm but know that there are others in it too and you will pass through it!! Do your best, and best of luck to you!

@intuitiveWater6984 Yes! It took me awhile (a few years) find a full-time job with benefits after graduating. You are not alone at all.

It's okay if you're anxious. That's normal. It can be kinda scary to find a job! One thing you can try is getting in touch with your school's alumni network and/or job/career services. Since you're so newly graduated they might be abe to help you out find a job.

Good luck!
