It’s not exactly very easy to share my story but for simplification purposes I’ll put it like this, my family is emotionally and verbally abusive. And I’m supposed to be going home to see them tomorrow, and I’m a little scared. But also I have a feeling that I’m like making a big deal out of why I don’t want to be with them

I'm sorry that your family mistreat you, that must be such a difficult experience for you. I don't think you're making a big deal about seeing them at all, you're naturally going to want to avoid them. Just because they're family, it doesn't mean you have to see them. If you have the choice, maybe it would be a good idea to avoid visiting them?
