Anxiety worsening and medication dosage
Hi friends, I have been taking 75 mg of sertraline daily for years at this point, and was feeling super hopeful during the pandemic up until now. There’s nothing major that is happening, except some Work stress, but that seems to have been the “straw that broke the camels back”. I haven’t had a panic attack in years and all of a sudden I’m having them almost daily. I finally saw my physician last week, and although I’ve also recently started therapy, she advised me to go up to 100 mg daily. I don’t want to increase the medication if I don’t HAVE to- does Anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Is there anything besides therapy I can add to my routine (already physically active and eat healthy) to hopefully avoid an increase in meds? Or is 75 to 100 not that big of a deal and should I go for it? Thankful for all of you!! ❤️ Hopeful
Hi @findingpeace89,
Changing your dosage to meet you new stress level is not an uncommon thing. I was on Effexor for years and sometimes if my stress levels increased my doctor would increase my level of medication. Once I had a handle on the situation, I could always decrease the dosage. So you should be able to do the same.
Do you practice any other methods of anxiety relief? Like CBT or Mindfulness? Those are also helpful to learn as coping mechanisims.
Be Well.
