Medication for anxiety

Inferno94 January 30th, 2017

I've had anxiety for as long as I can remember (I am 19) but I have finally visited a therapist. I was diagnosed with GAD, panic disorder and borderline OCD. I was prescribed (Edited by HalliwellSister for mentioning specific meds name) which is a seratonin reuptake inhabitor. Since then, my anxiety have become way worse because am so scared of taking an antidepressant...I don't know if I should make my own choice about it and not take it...or listen to the doctor...Can anyone on medication talk to me?

@Inferno94 I am now 35 and believe me I know what you're going through it took me quite a few medications switches to finally find the right one for me don't be afraid to tell your doctor honestly how you're feeling and that you want to try something else best thing to do is do your own research just Google the medication you're on and WebMD has actual patient reviews of it and then I would look at some of the other magic medications that are similar to the one you're taking and see what said about those as well good luck it's a tough road but it's worth seeking help

@Meangirl22 thank you, am mostly thinking of Conginitive behavioral therapy rather than medication as a whole...it's not permanent either ways, but idk if deciding against the medication is the right choice to make ://

Remember that there is no a miracle pill from anxiety. The way to overcome anxiety is through knowledge, not through a pill. When I feel my anxiety is playing up, I have to sleep more, exercise more or do whatever makes me happy. Talking to my close friend helps me a lot. If you understand you cannot go without medications, no one will help you here but your doctor. When your doc prescribes you some meds, check out this service to get a promocode.

@Emma88 Thank you so much for your message, I don't feel like I want to be on meds and would rather go to therapy.
