Bread scares me

thesmolknowingclown June 20th, 2018

I have what is known as lilapsophobia, which is the fear of tornadoes and hurricanes. Everytime I see that a thunderstorm is occuring outside, especially if it's a severe one, I go into full blown panic mode in the sense that my heart beats like crazy, I get nauseated, I check the weather much too often, and cannot focus on anything else while in this mode.

I also have pretty bad social anxiety that thoroughly enjoys reminding me of events where I messed up, such as stuttering while on the phone or saying something wrong when ordering.

I have mild-ish emetophobia (fear of being sick) but, although I hate being sick myself, watching or hearing other people being sick is what really scares me. I have no idea why!! Its not because Im afraid Ill be infected myself. But its causing problems for me with my family. Whenever someone says they dont feel well or is sick, I panic, cover my ears and eyes, make noises so I dont have to hear it, start crying and hyperventilating, etc. even if Im supposed to be helping the person. My dad does not understand at all. He gets extremely frustrated with me. For instance, recently my cat and my dad were in my room and the cat started gagging. I started hyperventilating uncontrollably and yelled at my dad in a panic to get it out and he said Im not responding to you when you act this way. Youre way too old to do this every time someone thr**s up I started crying and my dad seemed to think I was just overreacting or doing it for attention when Im genuinely terrified.

I have multiple fears...spiders... rejection... wide open spaces... crowds... fire...failure!

My fears hinder me a lot...

Touch. Well, to an extent. Definitely not as bad as other people. When someone touches me most of the time I visibly cringe and sometimes jolt back. And I really hate when someone touches me and then I ask them to please not do that and then they purposefully go out of their way to put their hand on my shoulder or something when Im not expecting it, or poke me and say ‘touch and giggle. Why. Just why. Why would you do that when you know your obviously scaring me. Its not even rude people who do it, most of the time its friends or classmates joking around, which is why it baffles me that they dont listen. Why is it fun to scare someone, or touch them when they clearly told you not to. Why is it so hard to respect someones boundaries. I really cant understand it.

@StrivingSoul I am terrified of spiders as well. They give me the creeps and if I see one I have to leave untill someone can kill it for me. I can't stand pictures or videos of spiders. Yes, stuffed animal spiders creep me out as well. Even the children's song the Itsy BItsy Spider scares me, cause I just picture a spider crawling slowly towards me. Ever since I was little I hated that song.

dentists and doctors oh my GOD

to make a long story short, when i was 3 years old, i was one of those kids who Kool Smiles dentistry gave unnecessary crowns to. the doctors were mean and they strapped me to the chair and didn't get my mom when I was screaming for her.

after it was over, i broke out in hives and passed out in my mom's arms.

i'm now terrified of medical environments to this day.

I have a fear of going financially broke. As soon as my bank account gets low, I panick and cant seem to focus on anything except the what ifs. It is awful. Then I dont think I can do anything because I get the feeling that I should know better than to be in this situation. And every time I need to buy something I get this pit in my stomach, and fear that I wont have enough money to buy things I truly need. ( like groceries, etc. ). Im not sure why I fear this, as I have never went bankrupt before, or havent even missed a bill or loan payment, but do live pay cheque to pay cheque. I just cant help feeling scared. Anyone else have this, and how do you overcome it?

I have a fear of bridges, tunnels, shootings, natural disasters, the dark, staying home alone, war, life changes and death. No matter what I do, I cant seem to kick these fears. I often also have nightmares about them. I wind up getting scared, anxious and emotional when any of these things are happening - even if it doesnt involve me. @Huskylife

Ah, I have the altimate fear of public speaking (formally). Im just normal speaking informally with friends and others, but when it comes to making presentations, business ideas...my anxiety cranks up so high. I think it's cos I stuttered a bit while I was younger, never really got out of it.

Also have this weird anxiety around pregnant women. I can't understand at all 😁

sensibleCircle2116 January 28th, 2019

I have a phobia of the dark(I forgot what its scientific name was.) I've tried and tried to become accustomed to the dark but I always feel as if something's behind me when I'm in a dark room and I feel like I'm being watched when I try to sleep in the dark, I usually sleep with the television on moderate volume so that the room isn't totally dark and silent. I also have a fear of the Emergency Alert System, whenever I hear the tone, tears stream out of my eyes and I try to block out the sound, but at the same time I know it's always something important, from a simple test to inclement weather.
