Severe panic attacks
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I'm new to 7cups and it's made me feel so much better. I started having panic attacks a week ago for the first time in my life. This is all so new to me and it's very hard to cope. I constantly feel like I'm going to have a heart attack or a stroke. My muscles cramp up, I get twitching on my muscles and tongue, and my heart rate goes very high.i went to hospital twice in one day and had ELG and blood work done and was told everything was ok. The past 2 days I thought I was getting better until today I started feeling weak and I tried focusing on working and my vision went a little dark and I freaked out bad. I went to the Hospital and they ran an ekg again. My heart was very fast and I felt like I was going to faint. Something I've never ever experienced. They hooked me on IV and I was there for about 2 hours and I was sent home. I've been trying to relax but nothing I do seems to help. I feel so anxious and woozy like I'm going to faint. If anyone has any similar symptoms, I'd like to hear your story. And if anyone has some coping skills or tips, please share. :)
Hello @Lienni !
It sounds like you have quite a hard time in your life right now, but it's great that you want to speak to people about your problems with anxiety and panic attacks. Don't be scared, many people are going through situations in which they think they are having a stroke or heart attack. I, personally, go through the same situation, which you describe above. I went many times to doctors because I thought that I am ill and something is wrong with me. Symptoms that you mentioned are absolutely normal for these attacks. It's okay to feel dizzy, anxious and woozy when you are experiencing a panic attack. I am happy to hear that you were trying to relax. Don't give up, when it is not helping yet. It took a long time for me to find the best coping mechanism. It just needs time. There are many tips on how to beat panic attacks, for example playing some instrument (my case - I started to play the piano), meditation, yoga, reading, painting, essential oils, writing anxiety journal (I also try this, it is really helpful) or people also use to cook and bake. Here are only a few technics which you can try. I would be happy if you give it a try and if you message me how it went! We can talk more about your panic attacks and anxiety, so, please, feel free to message me! I hope you will be okay! :-)
@tami150 hi tami! Thank you for replying :)!
It's been very rough. Just yesterday I went to the ER again because I was having flashes and eye floaters and my mind immediately thought I was going to have a seizure. But again I was told there is nothing wrong. I guess it's due to the lack of sleep and anxiety itself :/ hopefully tonight I can get some sleep!
I have been trying breathing techniques and grounding and it's been helping! I need to find a hobby.
how are You doing ?
@Lienni
I am glad to hear that you try to use some breathing technics and want to find a hobby. Many people use to paint, draw, read, sew or do some DIY things to engage their head with different thoughts. When you find your new hobby, I will be happy if you share it with us. Take care!
