Suddenly Afraid When Outside Alone

neatOak6872 July 1st

Not sure where this came from but I do grocery delivery freelance and need to work and make money but when taking my dog out today, I was so scared and shaky and felt like I was going to be harassed or something because I was alone, but to be fair my dog being a “pit” mix probably helps. I’m just not sure how to deal with and get over this, I was so shaky and even indoors again took a while to calm down and stop shaking.

Your title says suddenly......

so this was not a problem before...was there a trigger a close call or something that scared you?

what deep down is your real fear...sometimes we just have to talk to ourselves and figure it out.

i say this because at a time i have had times like you describe ...where i did not do things i could have probably should have ...... i was afraid of failure or success ...and so i claimed it was random fear even believed it afraid to walk very far from my home etc....

If i had said "i am afraid of the next chapter of my life or of changes that are happening "   well meaning people try to talk you out of your feelings .... tell me how safe something is.... i needed to feel that myself...

I quite literally woke up and went to take my dog out to potty maybe 20-30 minutes later, I was a bit anxious but fine after getting up, and it hit me once I was outside for several seconds out of nowhere. I have some somewhat sketchy neighbors but that’s it, they haven’t threatened me or anything, nobody else was outside that I’m aware of but I also kept looking at my dog trying to not pay TOO much attention in case someone was outside a house nearby and it made me freak out worse. I just wanted to bolt inside the house so bad but waited till my dog was done then hurried inside. Later that day it was still there but not quite as intense as the morning.

That would be unnerving for most people ... do you feel it might be sub conscience  warning ...

for  example animals who get anxious as a storm approaches?

I am honestly not sure, I do think I understand what you’re asking, but it’s like all physical sensations there’s no thoughts behind my anxiety (I’m not the type who worries or obsesses over things, it’s all physical sensations when I experience anxiety) but other than keeping my guard up as I would normally do just in case while living in a city or anywhere if I’m by myself really, it isn’t like I’m worried about people doing anything but just suddenly I feel exposed and scared if I’m alone in public or outdoors
