New member of the community!

Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I just became a listener today as well as joined this community. I've been a Listener before, but it's been a while. Anxiety is something I've fought a long, difficult battle with since I was in middle school. The past 4 years have been the most healing for me and I'm such a different person compared to who I used to be when I was last on 7 Cups. So happy to be back and I really look forward to taking chats and listening people's stories again! 😄❤️

@amicableox0685 Happy one year! The timing haha. I'm really glad you have found 7 Cups helpful. That is why I've found my way back due to losing my job 😅

@amicableox0685 I will be okay; thank you for your concern. I was forced to quit. My employer was manipulating me about store hours available and took advantage of me. I realized it after they cut my hours after hiring someone else. They knew that I wanted to work 3 days/week. When I was hired, I was told they couldn't guarantee me hours due to lack of hours available, which I was okay with up until they lied about store hours and took me for granted as I put my all into that job. In response, I decided to work slower one day and then call of the next day since it was proven to me that communicating with words wasn't going to be effective. Their response was to schedule me on days that my sister didn't work so I didn't have transportation even though there was a pre-hiring agreement to schedule me on days that my sister worked. I was forced to quit because it became too hostile. While it absolutely sucks being broke all the time, it felt good knowing they probably didn't expect me to quit lol. That place is a sinking ship anyway. Now I am searching for another job. I tried to get unemployment benefits, but have been going back and forth with the unemployment office and have almost $2k being withheld for me for partially ridiculous reasons. I've applied for over 80 jobs since August, so it's been rough (especially when the unemployment office is saying you are not allowed to have benefits because you are limiting yourself by looking for remote work only; I am searching for remote work only because of limited transportation out of my control and feel unsafe with walking or the public bus) but I'm hopeful since I've had positive feedback from employers. Being patient is the worst, especially when you are eager to not have to rely on people who don't understand you and mistreat/disrespect you.

I feel you. I've had so many situations like that with employers. Either being over-worked or being under-payed for the amount of work which I was doing. Fortunately I had government benefits to fall back on, but when I first started receiving them my parent gave me a real fuss about it. They expected me to manage symptoms while being first diagnosed like work, school, church and self-care, transportation...It was pretty serious. I just remember how depressed they made me feel. These days I don't even hear from them anymore but now I'm fortunate to live in a decent apartment outside of the city. I have gigs that I do online, so I would suggest DOING A SEARCH ON YOUTUBE FOR REMOTE JOBS. You never know what you might find.

I hope you don't get down on yourself. I understand but put it like this, it's not the early 2000's anymore. You'll eventually find something, just keep sowing those seeds of faith and hope and you'll reap.

@amicableox0685 I've had remote work before; I know how to find it. It's a lot easier to find such opportunities these days than it was 5 years ago thankfully. In the meantime, I plan to get free legal aid to help with unemployment. Hopefully that'll be sorted out before the new year. I am hopeful about finding remote work because quite a few employers have seen potential in me. It helps that I have remote work and education on my resume 😆 Thanks for your support!
