Anxiety Distraction List

The idea of, when being in an anxiety attack, is to try and focus on something else.  Because, of course, the more we focus on the anxiety and whatever is causing it, the worse it is.  So, I was wondering if we could assemble a list of things everyone does here that helps "distract" them from the anxiety.  What are you doing to take your brain to a happier, calmer place?  What are you doing to take care of yourself in those moments? It would be nice to have a big list we could refer to.  At least, I would like to have a nice list to refer to.  I need ideas when I'm out in public, when I'm all alone, etc.

Here are a few things I do to start:

- Take a walk in nature

- Play a game on my phone

- Watch a favorite movie

@thoughtfulmomma those are great things on your list, I'd like to add art to your list, drawing or writing even photohraphy ❤ also just talking to someone, on the phone perhaps if your in public and are getting nervous. 

when in a anxiety attack, is when I find it difficult to remember the breathing exercises and things. But touching something cold that helps to ground me a bit ❤ I hope your ok ❤

I also struggle with the breathing exercises. I know I’m supposed to focus on the breath, but all I focus on is whatever is triggering my anxiety.


That’s the reason I need a list of other things to help me wind down and focus.

@thoughtfulmomma anxiety is really hard to live with🙁 I don't actually leave the home except for hospital trips, I can't look people in the eyes when I talk, it really sucks 🙁 hopefully lots of people leave their tips here, so we can both learn ❤❤
