Book recommendation for this month
Hey guys I wanted to share an interesting book I recently came across. I plan on getting an e-book copy of it and reading it over this month. I invite you to join me and we can discuss it at the end of October.
The book was authored by Thom Hartmann, a former psychotherapist, who proposes that the hallmark traits of ADHD are what our hunter ancestors would have exhibited during the hunter-gatherer days of our species. He further elaborates that even though the age of agriculture and industry occurred these early genetic dispositions survived the gene pool and that we are simply hunters in a farmer's world.
The book comes from an evolutionary psychology perspective and his theory began after Thom was inspired by a scientific journal paper he read one night. Many years of study and research ensued as he sat down and talked with many of the experts leading the studies in ADHD. The first edition of this book was written in 1993. It has since been updated to include updated scientific information that further proves the validity of his theory in 2019. This book provides hope and a new way of framing our understanding of ADHD, more over celebrating its unique characteristics and dispelling stigma and shame around the condition.
I will include an article written by Thom about his book so you can get a sample of what kind of information you will find in his book. Comment below and let me know if you want to join in on this reading adventure.

Well I finished this book as of last week. A found it to be a very interesting and quick read, as the author's writing style keeps you engaged. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to understand their ADHD from a completely new perspective. It helped me dispel any sort of shame I was carrying around as well which felt very relieving.
