porn addiction
hey, i've been struggling with porn addiction for over a year now. i discovered it when I was around 10, I think? and it wasn't a major concern until now. it's been affecting my daily activities a lot. i have reduced productivity and motivation. i can barely last a day without it at this point, i would love to find friends to accompany me through this journey.
also, do you guys think smut has the same effects as porn? because I've been into that a lot as well and I'm confused where i should draw a line.

I want to acknowledge your courage in opening up about your struggle with porn addiction. It's not an easy topic to discuss, but seeking support is an important step in addressing this issue. You're not alone in facing this challenge, and it's commendable that you're reaching out in your journey towards recovery.
Regarding the question of "smut," it's essential to recognize that different individuals have varying definitions and boundaries when it comes to their consumption of explicit content. It's crucial to consider your own values and what aligns with your goals in recovery. Seeking clarity and guidance on where to draw the line is a personal decision, and it may be helpful to discuss this with a Listener, therapist or counselor who specializes in (porn) addiction.
Remember, the path to recovery is unique for each person, and it takes time and effort. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network of friends and seeking professional guidance can be instrumental in your journey to regain productivity, motivation, and well-being. Your openness is the first step toward positive change, and there's always hope for progress and healing!
@northernlights101 Smut is also called Thirst Traps. Thirst Traps can be quite innocent and not smutty too such as gym videos on socials but for some they trigger the Delta Fos B activation (similar to a runners high) in the brain and send the user into downward spiral towards porn use.
Avoiding any thirst traps for at least 90 days (that means no socials or YouTube etc) will reset the brain. Good luck on your journey.
hi,
it’s very brave of you to admit this and to realize it’s a problem especially since it’s affecting your life. i hope you’ve had some progress. i have recently worried about this, too. if you still want friends who are judgement free and in the same boat on this journey, i would love to help. all the best.
Been there also best thing I did was an app for accountability
and to keep track of streaks away from porn and mast.
it has helped a lot it’s called brain buddy . I also deleted all my
social media and went to a flip phone no internet or anything for 3 months . Only watch Disney tv shows with my kids . It’s helped a ton !!!
best of luck in your journey it’s a tough addiction a therapist I had actually said it’s the hardest thing he ever quit
This is such great advice. Changing up what you view and using an accountability app really helps to create a new way of thinking and a new way of being.
Firstly u should be sure that u want to quit .. secondly involve urself into activities all day long and don't be free..
