Hey my lovely Trauma Sub-Community participants it is I @AriannaPink (Arianna, Ari, or Aria) back with another check-in for you guys, and for this week we will be mixing things up a bit as I seriously need your guys help! (Let me explain). Before I begin explaining what I mean though I just wanted to say that if you missed last weeks check-in, and would like to tune in on what story was given, and what we last discussed please feel free to click here!

Anyways as most of you should know ever since I started doing these check-ins the main event has always been the Domestic Abuse stories from the special resource (https://www.thehotline.org) that I have been using. While thats been great, and most of you have seemed to enjoy these inspirational stories Im sad to say that this specific resource does not have many stories on their site, and after last weeks check-in I have used every single one they do have up, which means that starting this week I do not have a story for you guys. Now luckily as I certainly do not want to end our tradition I did some research, and I found some other resources that have stories as well! This is where I need your guys help though because these stories will be kind of different as these arent Domestic Abuse stories at least not directly. These stories are more in the Trauma as a whole spectrum as one resource deals with child abuse (in both genders), while the other resource deals with sexual assault (in both genders). I am very excited to have these resources be some options for you guys because unlike the last resource which included basically only female based stories, these options do include a more diverse range of stories which is definitely more realistic as we know abuse can happen to anyone. The reason why I need your guys help is I have no idea which resource I want to use, and ultimately these check-ins are for you guys so your opinions, and ideas will matter the most to me as this decision is made. So anyways my question for you guys is what do you want to see in my check-ins next? Now a few pre planned options I was thinking of are either A we could go down the child abuse stories route, B we could go down the sexual assault stories route, or C I wouldnt even mind combining the two and alternating the topics every week if thats what you guys wanted! Also keep in mind that just because I have proposed these ideas of my own to you guys doesnt mean you guys cant put your own ideas out there. In fact if you have any ideas on what I should do regarding future check-ins please do share your ideas down below as I honestly wanna treat this weeks check-in as a big brainstorming session between us all! πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸΌβ€¦

Well since theres no story for this week I believe thats about it so lets move onto our 3 signature check-in questions starting with the main check-in question, and then we should be finished for this week!!!

Main Check-In Question: How are you doing today overall?

#1. Out of the options I mentioned above which would you prefer to see happen?

#2. Do you have any ideas of your own for the next theme of my check-ins? If you do please mention them down below! πŸ˜β¬‡οΈβ€¦

As a little thank you in advance for your guys input, and individual ideas I chose this specific GIF to be this weeks special GIF as I know that if we all work together we can truly combine all of our ideas into something beautiful together! 😁❀️...

P.S. Heres a hint to what Im starting up starting in next weeks check-in! I am so excited, comment your guesses down below! πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸ˜†β˜ƒοΈ...

Hey, there!

I think it'd be most effective to cover the entire spectrum of trauma! If you have a story you think is significant and could help somebody, why hold back because of an arbitrary boundary? Another angle to consider is that, usually, people don't suffer from just one kind of traumatic event when it comes to abuse. It's usually (unfortunately) compounding issues... My own case is an example!

Thanks for all the hard work you do!

@betterchoices

Hey choices its good to see you again, how are you doing? Thanks for checking in, and deciding to come brainstorm with us by the way it is much appreciated!!! 😁...

Ive personally never been part of a trauma so with basically being an outsider (in so many ways) just trying to support a topic that touches my heart I really appreciate the points you brought up because you are right, and so many things that I either didnt think of myself, or it wasnt on the forefront of my mind you brought up which is so helpful for me in this decision making process because now I can step into a Trauma survivors shoes a little bit more to truly understand how things can/often do work so from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for opening my eyes a bit more today πŸ’—...

Regarding your first recommendation I have to admit I like your spunk, and youre totally right in the fact of why just stick to one area of Trauma when theres so many inspirational stories out there with Trauma as a whole that could ultimately inspire someone? Now that I think about it is kind of silly to hold back in just one little category when its not necessarily necessary to do so, so thank you for bringing this idea up! πŸ’—... Im not sure yet how Ill do this long term as Im still trying to research, and discover different resources that provides stories but I guess for now I could swap back and forth between sexual assault, and child abuse, and then throw in other categories as I find more resources πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ... What do you personally think about this? Do you think this is a good plan to start for next week? Or do you have even any more recommendations on how I should handle this matter? Honestly I am up to discussing any ideas (within reason of course) that could make our Wednesday check-ins so much better, so please dont be a stranger as I dont bite lol πŸ˜‚...

As of your second recommendation I didnt even think about that but youre right Trauma is often not a situation thats just one occasion, there are often multiple occasions that create the Trauma as a whole situation? (Im sorry Im not sure how to properly word that right now πŸ˜…). So anyways thank you so much for reminding me of that fact, and I promise Ill try to be as mindful as I can in the future regarding the common dynamics of Trauma πŸ€—πŸ’—...

Aww that was such a sweet comment! You are very welcome I love seeing you guys every week, and every ounce of hard work is 100% worth the effort I put in to come hang out with you guys here! 😁... In fact thank you guys for joining in every week to hang out, and for supporting me as I create hopefully good content for you all! It truly means a lot to me so thank you again! πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’—...

Sending lots of hugs & good vibes,

@AriannaPink

Hey, thank you so much! I'm always game to help out.

I do think that next week would be a good time to start covering all facets of trauma! I think that the people who come here (like myself) would benefit from seeing something that they all, individually, could connect to-- nobody's case is the same, so a rainbow of experience would probably be best, but it's entirely up to you!

As for other ideas, maybe instead of just story-review questions, you could also add some kind of little like... I don't know, coping anecdote. Like, "This person revealed in their story that they suffer from dissociation due to their experience! Here's a link to 7cups' dissociation forum" or something like that, just so it's a ray of hope at the end of what can be an exhausting read for those who undertake it. Then, for those who don't feel comfortable reading, they have a constructive thing to do for the check-in that's a little more in-depth than a "howya doin"?

I want to stress that I do like how you do it right now, I like that you can opt out of the story and simply have an emotional assessment check-in. I also like this little "program" you're doing, trying to connect through personal account. Storytelling is a powerful channel for empathy, which is why people like inspirational speakers have impact!

Thank you for always responding so in-depth, and valuing this community and their voices, even if you don't have any personal experience!

@AriannaPink

Hi. I'm doing ok today. The last few days have been rough. I've been dealing with some difficult thoughts. I think option C would be good. Thank you for doing the check-ins.

Im glad youre doing okay today, but Im sorry to hear that the last few days havent been to great for you with those difficult thoughts πŸ˜•... I hope things start getting better for you very soon because you deserve happiness! πŸ’—...

Thank you so much for your input! Its seeming like both you, and @betterchoices are leaning more towards option C rather than the others, and I personally love option C as well so thatll probably be our new routine starting next week (Wednesday, December 11th 2019) but stay tuned to next Wednesdays check-in thread because thats where I will announce my final decision (along with our usual story) with everyones opinions/ideas in mind! πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸΌ...
