Depression and isolating
I've been realizing how depressed I have become. Not realizing how apathetic I am to life and everything involved. I want to start a fitness class like crossfit near me, but I can't get myself going to actually get there. I start to tell myself how I would feel better just not to go. Even working out alone is hard. I just would rather do nothing.
I used to love to push myself out of my comfort zone and try new things. Now the idea of even leaving my house is exhausting. I don't know how to move out of this funk and get my life back.
@Naturegirl258 It helps to take smaller steps.
@Naturegirl258 Hi Nature girl. Recently I’ve been going through this for almost 2 months dealing with depression and anxiety. I guess my anti depressants have taken a break. I finally talked to a psychologist for the first time in 7 years and it has helped. It is finally started to calm down a bit and things are looking up. I was an athlete back in the day and I know that exercise is great to combat depression and anxiety. If you are having trouble going to a class start off with walking. You can even brisk walk, jog or whatever. That’s what I’ve been doing and it makes a difference. Gets the chemicals moving in the brain.

Any other good reads you’ve come across?? I’m in the market for recommendations!

Yeah it seems difficult to look through all the faze of depression and find a way to stop it. Seems like a end. But I will say that realising the state you are going through is a feat in itself. I am not exaggerating. It's a great start. Once you know what you are dealing with, we will have so many specific ways to tackle it. We just need to reach out to it. I know it's hard. I am going through depression too. But don't worry we can get it to a better spot. It's not THAAAT hard.
listening to motivating podcasts or even motivating tik toks has really helped me get out of that funk in some of the hardest moments.
Sending peace. Healing comes in little steps usually.
If one kind of thing that usually helps doesn't feel right right now try another. For some people it is music, others art, others just walking outside, others cooking or nature.
Just trying to get yourself moving in some way is hard, but it can really help if you make a new activity a habit for a few weeks.@Naturegirl258
I’m sorry you’re going through this. I hope things get better soon. Please remember that you can talk to a listener anytime you need.
@Naturegirl258 make small goals. Start first, goals within the house, then maybe just outside the house, eventually the neighborhood and further will come in time. Think of the here and the now. Sometimes I get stuck on the long term goals and get super overwhelmed. Take walks in the neighborhood. An evening stroll after dinner if you want to have more privacy. The sun won’t be a spot light on you. I wish you the best and hope for your strength through this. It is not easy. But you are not alone.
