Finding your way around forums!

forums can seem like a maze at first, i get that! but once you get to know the structure and the idea of how it works, it’ll get easy to find your way around!

There are thousands of threads on seven cups, divided into groups including the ones with similar content which make a category/subcommunity(to see the difference of subcomm and category see forum dictionary post!)

there are three types of forum areas:

- General Support Forums : Everyone can access these forum areas. Their main objective is to support members and guests. Few examples of it are: Anxiety Support Subcommunity, grief and loss category, etc.

- Listener forums: Only listeners have access to these forum areas, These are mainly a place for listeners to ask for support, learn more on listening, share their thoughts or connect with each other. Listener Learning & Journey and Listener Community Centre are the two listener forum areas that we have.

- Badge Locked forum areas: These forum areas are only available to people who have certain badges. For example: Subcommunity Leaders Bubble, teen only zone, 50+ support, etc.

If you try to view a link to a thread based in a listener only forum space while using a member account, or if you try to reach to a post in a badge locked forum space but don’t have the needed badge you’ll see this page:

I want to find a specific category/subcommunity; where should I go?

1- (browser only) forums home page:

view any forum thread of your choice, click on forums on the top right, this will take you to the forum home page (or click here to go there) choose any forum categories OR sort “all threads” by most replies, most upvotes, posts with no reply or newest posts (video explanation of these steps can be found here)

2- (browser only) your path:

go to my progress path/ growth path page and scroll down until you see full list of subcomms

3- (app and browser) community home page:

go to community home page, scroll down until you see full list of subcomms

I want to find a specific thread; where should I go?

1- use a search engine:

official seven cups forum search

Go to any forum thread> forums> search keywords! You can also limit the search to your subscribed threads or threads you have created (or click here to go to forum search page)

8th cup (unofficial) search engine (shout out to @rarelycharlie for creating it!): Click here to find it!

2- guess where it should be based on topic

It is impossible to memorize where exactly each thread is located at but it’s easy to have a fair guess based on topic (names of subcomms are mostly obvious)

These are the most frequently looked for places!

~bdays, cupeversary, shout outs, special appreciation badges threads!

~Information on a project or team (or questions,feedback and suggestions about a specific team/project):

Group support (for group based projects only)

Site updates (admins introducing a new project)
