Words of Wisdom
Hi Online Therapy Sub-Community :)
I hope you are well. Often we get helpful words from others or perhaps a quote that has inspired us or helped us in some way. They really can be very uplifting!
If you feel comfortable to do so, can you share with something that has helped you?
For me, I find the following really uplifting and useful:
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
I like this one because it helps you to see that the journey isn't always easy or something you can reach quickly but you will eventually get there.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi
With so many difficulties happening across the globe it can make a huge difference to look at the things you can control and not react with the same behaviour. So whilst we cannot influence the world on a broader scale usually, we can make small differences to make the world a better place.

"I am doing the best I can" soulsings
@soulsings
Love this :) One step at a time!
Hello @LisaMeighanMBPsS, this is a great post.
Some words of wisdom that mean a lot to me is : “If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can walk, crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
@Desmynn6789
I love this quote!
@Desmynn6789
One of my favourites too, such a powerful reminder! Thank you for reminding me of this!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
"The mind is everything. What you think you become" (Buddha)
@amiablePeace77
So so true, thoughts become things! :)

My great aunt used to always say that politeness is free. It's something that I've kept with me over the years.
@GoldenNest2727
Such useful words. I think we learn so many lessons from our relatives don't we? So amazing to see the wisdom shared and a good lesson for any child to hear growing up and it stuck which is so powerful!
lovely thread @LisaMeighanMBPsS
"Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with them two."
This quote taught and reminds me to always try giving my best and opportunities to do beyond (my) expectations.
@Chevy81
That's an excellent choice! Thanks for sharing!
@GoldenNest2727 you're welcome ♥️
@LisaMeighanMBPsS There are some I heard in mindfulness discussions that I like from John Kabat-Zinn.
”Even with all the pain and suffering in life, life is still a gift”
”You couldn’t not be a whole person “
@adventurousBranch3786 love those quotes.
"Our thoughts are like bubbles in a clear teapot. They bubble up and then disappear."
Beautiful! Such lovely words all of them and very uplifting. Sometimes just hearing something uplifting really brightens your day!
Great quote. It’s interesting how when you smile to someone that person smiles back at you(most of the times). When you are kind to other people other people are kind to you. I know is not rocket science. But sometimes we are so caught up in our mind/thoughts that we expect others to be kind to us or others to see us when we don’t even see others or even when we don’t even see ourselves.
I believe that everything starts with you and gradually you realize how much effect you have in this world by just knowing that you are valuable.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
I think about it usually once per day and remind myself to judge my life against my past and only look forward.
@Sn0r1ax
So so true, we most often compare our perceived "worst" aspects of what we feel defines us and then compare this with what we feel is the ideal or best scenario that someone is in. So it is always unfairly balanced. Very wise words indeed :)
Wise words, "Your words are seeds and they produce after their own kind." -Ellease Cole
This quote comes from a Sunday School teacher I had some years ago and it stuck with me. I believe we can produce a garden of beautiful things or a garden of toxic waste. It's a choice. I choose to start with me. What am I thinking, feeling, and believing, it will sprout up out of me and pour into others. My goal is to give better into each environment, everyplace I step into may I be a blessing.
@sereneYellow1926 I agree that speech is powerful and so is action. It is bad when we speak angry words and I feel terrible afterwards. But if I let it go to violent action, then that is much worse for me.
@sereneYellow1926
I just love this!!
