Need a new job

sky1263 February 7th, 2022

Hi everyone,

I had applied for quite a few different jobs. I definitely need something but I was called for 2 different interviews and declined both of them. I would have hated either of those jobs so didn't want to waste my time or theirs either. Ive been doing some doordash to get a little extra cash but I need a full time job. I did get my antidepressant med refilled and was able to buy them with the door dash money I earned. But I have a ton of bills so I have to take some job. I think this must be a nervous breakdown because I'm not functioning very well at all. My pets are keeping me here though so I'm ok. My house is a disgrace, a total mess but I don't even care and I don't have anyone that could help anyway. I had quit 3 jobs in a row before things got this bad. I just couldn't do it. I mean I was capable but mentally was caving in and couldn't do it. The few people I know have no idea how bad things are. Not that they could help anyway. Everyone is struggling anyway so I don't think there is much help to be gotten. I just have to get a job so I can pay these bills, that has to be my priority. Then I just have to find the strength to keep it and keep functioning. I hope I can do it this time or I will be in a financial mess I can't get out of.

Dear @sky1263,

I saw your post about finding a job.

I do have a job suggestion if you're interested in knowing about it?

Financial pressure can be very tough on our well-being, I'm very sorry to hear that things are so hard for you right now ๐Ÿ’™. Being able to get your medication and pay the bills is definitively important but also to find a job in which you feel good. I hope you will find that job very soon. This is a link to our self-help guides which also include a guide about managing finances if you think that could help https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php. I'm glad you have your pets to comfort you and that you opened up here but know that you can always reach out to a listener for a 1:1 chat too https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/.

I also find that cleaning up the house can be really motivating and make us feel good. Sending you warm hugs (if okay)

Thank you for that, I appreciate it. I had a job interview scheduledthe other day. I was up ready, out the door and my car had a flat tire. I couldn't believe it, I said what the hell is up with my luck. There was no person nearby to ask for a ride and this town is rural so no bus or cabs. You know what's crazy? I'm originally from New York City. I'm now living in Mississippi. So I had to leave a message and ask if I could reschedule the interview, never heard back now. I got even more depressed and haven't even done anything about my flat tire, the car is still sitting there. I need to get up and clean, my place is really bad but all I am doing is staying in bed. Nobody knows, everyone thinks I'm working and that everything is fine. I only get up to take care of my pets then back to bed. I don't know where to start, I don't have the energy but even worse is that I don't even care that much. It's a bad situation for sure.

So sorry to hear about your misfortune, hugs (if okay). I can only imagine your deep disappointment and frustration. I wish there was something I could do for you to make you feel better. Please do not allow this incident keep you stuck in bed - things will be better again, there will be more opportunities, try again, don't stop ๐Ÿ’™. Have you considered to talk to a listener here about how you feel? This link will bring you to our self help guides https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php. I hope that you find something that helps.

Btw, what kind of pets do you have?

I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and until last week I was a beekeeper. Unfortunately I found my last hive has died so no more bees. Not sure what happened to them. The one hive was never super packed but I thought the other one was doing well. I don't think I'll try again with them. Bees are a lot of work really.

It must be nice to live with a pack of 3 dogs and 2 cats. I really love animals. It must be fun to watch them chasing each other when playing. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sorry that your last bee hive died too.

@sky1263 I haven't had a job yet, but if you have a Tractor Supply near you and you are 18 or older you can take care of baby chickens, stock shelves, and work at the cash register. The customers at my Tractor Supply are really nice :)

Sorry to hear this. @sky1263

There are plenty of remote jobs online you could apply for. Maybe do some gig work on UpWork or Fiverr. And thereโ€™s always UberEats. Hopefully the car gets sorted out.

Also definitely try cleaning up. I was in a depressive fog for about 3-4 months after I got laid off.

I hope this helps & good luck with the job search ๐Ÿ’›

Hi everyone,

I got a job!! I won't start until the 14th I think. The woman called and offered me the position over the phone so that was good. So I go monday for the work physical. I have to try and get myself focused because it will be a stressful job. I'm trying though. Wish I could do better. Still haven't cleaned much, spend most of my days in bed. Every night I say ok tomorrow I will do this or that but nothing gets done, but I am trying. I went grocery shopping the other day and one of the things I bought was a bag of potatoes so I'm making some french fries in the air fryer. Ok thank you everyone!
