An Introduction
Hi everyone. My name is Nick, and I am from the UK. The main reason that I am here is down to depression, and a sense of self-loathing. My problems started in childhood and have been going on for a very long time. Recently, my mother was diagnosed with COPD, and cancer, and recently had a stroke, from which she has just come home from hospital. As well as caring for her, I also care for an uncle with dementia, and a mentally handicapped older brother. While this adds a lot of stress and pressure to my life, in some ways it helps me too, as right now I don't have enough time to hate myself, with everything else going on. I have been a member of 7cups for a few years, but only ever used it occasionally, but now I am hoping to use it daily, just for a few minutes, just for some "me time". I think that about covers it for now. Look forward to meeting you all soon, in the various chats, discussions and rooms on 7cups. Take care

Hello, so happy you'll be here more often! I'm sorry to hear about your depression, there are so many people here to support you, you are definitely not alone. It's wonderful that you are taking care of your family members that are struggling, that is so selfless of you! You are making a real contribution that you should be proud of.

Hey friend, I am so sorry that your family is going through these difficult times! But I am so proud of you being holding up for them as a shoulder of hope and support! i can relate to some of what you've said. i have major depression and deal with self loathing too. my self esteem is extremely low, my health is poor right now just because i'm in process of moving, getting surgery in next few months, etc. i'm at a low point where i can become depressed more easily.
it sounds like what you're going through is exhausting. i used to care for my dad, he had schizophrenia and copd as well. he has since passed away but it was difficult taking care of him to say the least.
