Work Woes
I need to vent about my work and this is the only safe place I have. Its so complicated. My organization (government) has a huge (think millions of dollars) project on the table and the vendor we are working with is pressuring us to sign the contract before the end of the year. All of us involved in the contract have told them no, that we need additional time to analyze the offer. So now the vendor has gone around all of us directly to our Leadership (with their lobbyists in tow) to make us move forward. So, now we are essentially being told, get it done.
There goes my Holiday vacation.
Ive never had a panic attack before, but I think Im there. Heart pounding, cant concentrate, and all I want to do is scream and cry.
Thanks for letting me vent.
@soulsings and Sugar - Thank you both for your words of encouragement and support. I think we have the situation resolved. The purchasing team was able to make a good case for why we shouldn't move forward so quickly and that we have a responsibility to perform our 'due diligence' on the contract. We will reconvene after the first of the year. The vendor is very angry, but that is not my issue to resolve.
Once again thanks a million.
@MissPen you just illustrated why it is so beneficial to not react or fight against things. This was not meant to be and you had to do little or nothing for the right course to emerge.
BTW I was in sales for 30 years and I think an angry vendor is very unprofessional and may not make a good partner in the future. What was happening here is they wanted to make their quarterly goal so the reason for before the end of the year. They are sounding like a person more interested in their commission than their customers good will.
@MissPen Just seeing this thread—definitely due diligence. Cutting deals before year end is typical like Soul mentioned. Glad things are getting better.
No more notifications of new threads. Anyway thanks . Some days I hate my job. They dont tell you when you start this career that you will be the reason for the terrible news that you will be getting. .Its ok. Once in a while we are able to give good news. Today was horrible. Another day in paradise?!. And what is facing me tomorrow, I will get through it myself. Thanks for a place I can let ili go.
@Lauren63 I think you are brave working in the medical field. I feel everything around me and don
@Zengrl generally dont take breaks. Other than lunch. But we do try to make it about 45 minutes.Go to a place where we can see outside. My department has no windows. So we have blue skies and clouds in the ceiling.
@Lauren63 sorry to hear you dont have breaks too. I once met a guy who was working on a company that would make hospitals more holistic for the employees. So often the patients get windows, but not those working. Maybe you and your friends could squeeze a short walk in your lunch.
@Zengrl we go to the Sunshine Cafe. 2 walls of windows. And when its warm we sit outside. But not when its really hot or cold. Thanks
@Lauren63 Oh that
@Zengrl Merry Christmas 🎄. Hope you have a good day.
@Lauren63 sorry if you are not getting notification of new threads.
Working in the medical profession can be very stressful. I saw too many people die when I worked in a hospital. It never gets easier.
@soulsings. It was just a bad day. It can be stressful, what did you do? When it was stressful and you worked in a hospital.
@Lauren63 I have bad days too. I usually take a shower put on clean clothes and have a nap or something to eat. I also try to start laughing somehow because it triggers good feelings.
