I've been with my SO for about 4 years. He has DID. About 3.5 years ago an abusive alter took all of my ID and paperwork and banking card. I literally have nothing to prove who I am, nor can i access my bank account. Any money has to come from my so. He one of the kindest men I've ever known and i love him deeply.

However, whenever i bring up the ID issue he winds up losing time and does not remember how important this is to me. Apparently this is a trigger for him. I dont know why.

I have no relatives that can help me with this. My parents are dead. I no longer have any friends I can ask, either.

At this point I'm so upset and depressed about this situation that I feel like I could lose my mind. Without identification I cannot get healthcare, vote, volunteer, get a job, get a library card, etc. I cry almost every day.

How can I fix this?

I should add I know I need some serious mental health counseling but I can't do that without money or ID. I'm 52 and have no way to get pre cancer screenings like mammograms and pap smears. It's been years. I have no car so I can't just drive away. I'm quite alone. I'm scared.

@lovingDrum8823 Hi, this sounds like a really difficult situation. I believe that you can apply for a new social security card with the social security administration by internet. Have you spoken to the management at the bank to see if there is anything that you can do?

@adventurousBranch3786

And you can ask the post office to hold your mail for you to pick up (if you're afraid he'll find in the mailbox and refuse to let you have it). You also have the option to send your mail to another post office and ask them to hold it. Just say you're visiting someone or passing through.

This is actually a criminal act. This type of theft is a criminal offense. I believe this is a ruse this person is using to control you and your life. You would be better off alone than subjected to this type of abuse.

Maybe go to a place where you can report what is happening.
