Overwhelmed

Rebekahwriter13 May 18th, 2021

I am in a very complicated living situation. I have no privacy. My health issues are all over the place. I have carpal tunnel, gout, swollen legs, and female issues (PCOS). I'm trying to get better. I'm in love with a guy (he is my boyfriend) but his ex is still in his life. It makes me uneasy, but he tries to get serious with her she threatens to do bad things. We both suggested therapy, but she just gives excuses. I also found out an old friend really likes me. He knows I'm in a relationship, but I'm just all over. Im not sure how to tell others how I'm feeling. Which is scared, overwhelmed and confused. My priorities are my health and a better place, but I can't lose my friends and boyfriend.

@Rebekahwriter13 Hi there. Prayers as you work on your health. Definitely seems like you have a lot going on right now.

Have you ever tried writing or drawing to express your feelings? Friends will stick by you as you work to better yourself physically and mentally.

I know it can seem scary of losing people, but you matter. You can ask for their support and understanding during this rough time in your life.

You have a right to your emotions. As my counselor says, you can't control other's actions, but you can work on how you respond/react.

friendships and relationships are a combination of things: support, love, but also respect. I hope expressing your feelings, they can listen and respect your feelings.

Have you reached out to a therapist or counselor? It may help to vent, let it out, and receive an outside view.

I hope this helps, even if just a little.

Writing is a great outlet. A story is as long as a piece of string. 💕🙏 Reading is a great as well. Being a listener for someone else 💕 Hoping for a better tomorrow for you 🙏

I know how you feel - I am in a living situation that is slowly strangling me and in debt so unable to break the lease. Also I am the heaviest I ever been and the above has had a hand in that and it’s a struggle everyday to do what is best - BUT you must! I learned something recently - a bittersweet truth by my thirties so far : ONLY YOU can truly LOVE you! Not even your partner, even if they are the most supportive, loving etc, can love you as much as you can! Not bc your are not worthy of it, but bc YOU KNOW you best! You know why you’re sad, what you need to feel happy, what your soul wants in life, etc. only you can feel the burden of that weight or your health and decide to love yourself despite and because of it! Here are somethings that helped me: Start and end your day drinking 2 cups of water - right when you wake up! Google how much water should I drink? It’s a percentage based on your weight. I should drink 4 32oz bottles daily- in herbal tea or water. Have you considered removing as much processed sugars and carbs from your diet? Doing this alone has helped my mood, digestion, and anxiety. Also start your day eating at least 2 cups of fresh veggies ! Vegetables are loaded with water and minerals, and keeps the blood thin(if you are on blood thinners you will have to monitor this), but eating as much fresh, (organic preferred bc it’s most nutritious), helps your body and mind heal. As for the rest- fair weather friends are no friends and if your boyfriend is keeping an EX around .. I mean while you can’t really tell him to ditch his friends - I think you need to trust your intuition. I think you need time alone to clear your head. If they don’t give you that space, then, do you need that in your life?
