Jealousy

I feel like i shouldn't feel this way at 37. My brothers and sisters all have jobs, careers, nice houses and my husband and i are struggling with two special needs kids who need us both at home. We have enough but i do feel judged for having to be happy with less. Why do i still feel jealous of other people? I know logically i have more than enough

I understand you are feeling the world is not as equal as it could or should be.There are many reasons people who have what they need still feel like they are missing something. Many of those feelings stem from a lot of outside sources including advertising, media representation and social networking. When we see others around us prospering in ways we are not, personal struggles start to magnify, at least in our minds.

The truth is, all those people in commercials, on facebook and in your favorite shows who seem to be living the "ideal" life, arent. Everyone has their own journey and their own hurdles and burdens along the way. How you respond to yours is what decides your level of happiness.

You already recognize that you have the things you really need, which is a great start! You also seem to be aware of the blessings you have when it comes to family - two special needs children and a good husband. :) I think you are on the right track , but just got a little waylaid. Take time to celebrate the wonderful things in life you already have and if there are other things you truly need then chart out the steps you need to get there one step at a time. Try not to place expectations on yourself because of what others have, you never know what they are struggling with privately.

You can do this. Happiness comes from experiences and from within.🐩

I suffer from the same issue. I constantly compare my life to those around me. I SO want to be happy for my friends and family, but my jealousy gets in the way sometimes. It’s hard. Especially with social media showing you all of these “perfect highlights” of people’s lives. I def understand how you’re feeling ( I’m 34 ) But I did start a list the other day...just in my Notes on my phone...of a few things I can think of each day that I’m grateful for. And on the days where I don’t feel very grateful, I can just go back and read them. Also, I always have my phone on me so I’ll always have the list. Maybe this will help you also.
