I am anxious about job hunting

amusingScarf3988 January 27th

Why it is so difficult to find a job. I am a graduate student 35 years old. I got a masters degree in literature. I kind of hate my job now as a English tutor online. I wonder whether i can find something else to do.

now i live in Belarus, it seems difficult to find a job for me as i am a Chinese woman.

i am frustrated. I don’t know what future is going to be like.

and i am single, in my hometown if a woman is single my age. That is a disaster. So i went abroad to escape the embarrassment for my family, to save my parents the trouble of losing face due to my single situation.

i just lose my sleep so frustrated.

oh. I need a job.

Hi. I feel for you. Its hard to read that you felt you had to leave your country because you felt you were an embarrassment to your family. Such a shame that being single is considered some kind of failing in the place you come from. It suggests that your family don't recognise your achievements, when they place so much emphasis on this one thing.

Do you recognise your achievements? Moving across the world on your own is a huge thing. And you did it! I'm so impressed. And you have a job. I understand you don't enjoy it. That's no fun. But you succeeded in setting yourself up and supporting yourself.

Now it sounds like you feel the need to move on to something more satisfying for you. This sounds like a natural progression to me. Job hunting is soul destroying. I don't know what to say to make it any better for you. I don't think there is anything to make it better. Sometimes you just have to wait for the right opportunity, and yes, that is so so very frustrating.

Please tell us more if you'd like. What kind of job would be ideal for you? Or just rant some more. Sharing your frustration can be so helpful.

Best wishes.
