Childhood Trauma

sensiblePomegranate5035 October 2nd, 2023

Hey folks,

I am kinda new here and I want to know how you folks dealt with your childhood trauma. I have been in therapy for almost a year now, and I have reached a point in my life, where I can't live without it. I tried to stop therapy and medication for some time, but my depression came and hit me back. So I wanna know does anyone else go through something like that?

@sensiblePomegranate5035 aww gives you a giant tiny hug ❤❤squeezes you tightly. Unfortunately some of us may always need to take meds. And come to rely on someone to talk to and help guide you. There is no real answer just step by step, day by day. All we can do is try our best. Good luck sweetie ❤gives you another hugggg

For me depression is like an allergy ... i do not have it all the time .... meds might work in short term but make me tired.... and the best i can do is TRY to avoid the items that trigger the allergy.

It is hard and when you do not feel like any positive changes are happening we question the way we are doing it.... while i think therapy has its benefits i like to do deeper things on my own so i can be more independent and i do not need constant treatment for sporadic episodes.

Hope you find your items that help you in self care.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with depression related to your childhood. I very much relate to you. Btw—It’s okay to utilize therapy and medication. And even “need” both 😊 It can take a lot of time to heal and there’s no shame in needing help. I definitely couldn’t do it alone. There’s some really good licensed professionals on YouTube too that talk about trauma and how it can be managed and lessened. Patrick Teahan LICSW is one as well as *** Childhood Fairy. Although the latter isn’t a licensed professional, I like her content from time to time. Biggest thing is—you’re not alone. 💖

Hi there!

Coping and healing from trauma and depression might take a long time.

Sometimes it's the work of a lifetime.

So be patient and kind to yourself, getting all the support you might get.

If those meds and therapy help you feel better, go for them, you deserve them.

You deserve anything that helps you cope and heal.

I suggest that you participate actively in the Trauma Support and Depression Support communities, where you will find many good people with a lot of experience and willing to help you in your path, both in the forums and in group chats.

I wish you all the best in your healing journey!
