That is a good question ... and part of the landscape of workplace bullying.
In a big company ... I often view "work" in 3 categories:
1) Say what you are going to do. This is organization, planning, and prioritization. But it also includes communication on the work that you intend to do.
2) Do it. This is doing the actual work.
3) Say what you did. This includes status, emails, work logs, and updates to any systems on what has been accomplished.
If you are being bullied this way ... 1 tip is to follow these 3 steps ... and make sure that you communicate in writing ...and communicate widely ... up ...and across the organization ...so people know what you intend to do, what you are doing, and what you have done.

I think that whoever does not thank you for your work has to be confronted and asked what is wrong. Personally speaking, I would usually approach a person if they do not appreciate what I've done whereas they've appreciated others. Not only would this clear misunderstandings, but this would also be a great chance to improve your work as well as yourself. The best of people to find your weakness is not yourself but others. See this as a chance to elevate yourself in standards. Your co-workers may have done their work better or more efficiently but if this is not the case, then there is obviously bias.

Most superiors do this on purpose. The reason for this behaviour is creating tensions among the work-force that will help maintain their sway over them. Moreover, many superiors are inapt and incapable of leadership as this society values certificates, subversion and callousness in leaders more than social abilities. Do not worry about it, leave the place if it is disturbing you too much

Work situations can be very demotivating, especially if the Management is not supportive. I would suggest speaking to your line manager and asking for a review of your work.

They get appreciated for the work that they do but I don't get a thank you because I am the manager and I am telling them what to do. I thank them they don't thank me.

It's hard to feel unappreciated at work, especially when your coworkers are held in high esteem. The answer is likely reflective of your own personal situation. If you have concerns, perhaps your supervisor may be able to provide some answers. In lieu of that, perhaps your coworkers can help shed some light on the issue.
