Utilize local resources (job centers, VR, etc), figure out what makes you awesome, and market it. Informational interviews to employers can be a huge help in trying to figure out what you need to do or become to be the person that is set apart from all of the rest. Or, if you have a very unique skill set, consult with firms like SCORE that offer free business startup advice for small companies and start a business.

It's really tough to be unemployed. I know. I'm unemployed. Despite what others may say, don't spend all your time looking for work and obsessing about it. That will drive you crazy. Try to have a little fun, read a book, take it easy on yourself.

Hey there I hope you're having a nice day! I personally think it depends what kind of employment you're looking for.. if you're looking for a minimum wage job to get you working again, go crazy handing out applications.. even for places you don't particularly want to work at. You can always turn them down if other options arise, only work there until you find a better fit, or turn the offer down completely. It will get you back into work, some recent experience and references, and there will be a little income. If you're unemployed and trained in a field you would like to get back into, this may be more difficult, and require more patience. I would suggest go to all the places that could hire you with your degree.. even if you don't particularly like the job, and apply. Getting any job is better than no job, and as above, you don't have to stay there forever. Be patient with them getting back to you, be aware they will not immediately, and prepare yourself for interviews. Also, talk to some family/friends/banks/social-welfare/etc about your financial situation if it's currently a concern for you, that's what they're there to help you with and they can actually help push forward some jobs for you!

First and foremost, don't despair. Quite a few people have experienced unemployment, but there is still hope for all of us. Find your local state/county resources - most communities have resources or one-a-day jobs to get you by while you search. Don't be discouraged by paperwork. If you feel frustrated, take a break and continue later. Applying for jobs takes a lot of paperwork, but don't stop even if you feel bad or angry about it - just keep going! Look up tips and tricks for interviewing - this can be the scariest part about job hunting, but there are thousands of resources online to help you succeed. Google is your friend during the process! Speaking of success - if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Sounds simple, I know. But being turned down for a job is not what DEFINES your life, it's just a job. Multiple attempts does not make you a failure, it makes you persistent and determined. Stay positive, stay focused, and believe in yourself. You CAN do it.
