How do I improve my chances to getting into my dream college?

Well, first you always have to know what does your dream college require for you to get in. You work for these requirements and get them. Second, it would be very helpful for you if you tell your student counsellor what is your dream college so they would help you get to your goal. Third, Always do charity work, community service; things that show you give back to the community. College's love that. Fourth, look for scholarships and sponsorships to that college, it really helps boost your chance. Fifth, when you write that admission's essay, you slay in that essay. Write the essay as if your life depends on it. Writing an essay that stands out is crucial. Fifth, recommendations, recommendations, RECOMMENDATIONS. They always help. Sixth, you just have to have will power and believe in yourself, you can do it!! Your motivation is everything.

Well first make yourself very clear about the requirements and qualifications required to make into your dream college. Assess yourself based on those points. Make the list of the topics/areas you need to be familiar with. From this list group the topics based on your expertise level. Now, you can have a clear idea about where to concentrate more and topics you already know. Divide your preparation time accordingly. This will definitely help you to improve your scores. Then concentrate on the entrance exam of that college. Write your answers in such a way that the college should think that your life depends on them. Next key point would be recommendations. And above all this, your self-confidence. Keep your confidence high and always be positive this will help you in giving out your best.

Improving chances to get into your dream college is definitely a challenge, however it is also definitely attainable! Getting and maintaining well grades is necessary, but also being a well-rounded person in high school is too. Participate in sports, but if you're not a sporty person, there's always clubs to get involved in! If not, starting one always looks splendid on an application. Best of luck!

Colleges look for grades, SAT scores, ACT scores, etc. but they also look for well-rounded students, meaning that if you do very well in school but also play sports and/or an instrument or volunteer many hours, then your chances of getting into that school will increase.

Working hard and having the motivation to succeed will get you anywhere in life. If you work hard and see what the college needs for you to get in, start working more on those and finding something that can wow them,

So I think after reading what everyone has posted they make some great points. Truly know what you have to work on to meet the goals of what the university wants. Being involved and find ways to build your resume will do wonders for you! Also, something that is not mentioned is always have a plan B. I know that is not as exciting as the first plan but make your plan B not much diffrent from plan A so there is not much of a loss. For instance. Your dream college is that one college or a couple of them you have dreams of going to? Also, you have to rememeber that somethings you are not incontrol of when getting into college. You could be the best and a college will turn you town. For instance, In high school i was a 3.01 GPA student with a 24 on my ACT. Not amazing but schools will take me. I applied for University of Tennessee (UT) school and for Harvard University. Well, I got declined from UT and got into Harvard. So remeber to try your best but always have a plan B! Stay strong! Also, remember where ever you go to college it is what you make of it! So make it great! Good luck!

Take high school seriously. Study and do well in your classes. Form study groups and reach out to teachers if you need assistance. Be involved in community activities.

Work hard for what you love and love doing it. Passion is the most important thing in getting us to where we want to be.

A lot of universities have admissions advisors. The best thing you can do is get in contact with one of them either over the phone or through email, they are paid to help get the information you need in order to make a good application. Also make sure you have a strong core GPA (math, English, science) since a lot of universities will recalculate your GPA for admittance based on that and not your overall GPA. However if your GPA isn't super strong don't panic! Always fill out the optional essays or 'tell us about yourself' sections because that is where you can explain why your GPA isn't the highest. However don't just talk about your negatives during that essay, talk about what else you do. Maybe your GPA isn't the highest because you were on two sports teams and did community service. Or maybe you work part-time to save for college. Admissions advisors look at these things when making decisions.

It's hard to hear but just try your hardest and know that your "dream college" is really whatever college to go to. I went to one of the best college in the USA (think IVY league) and thought it was a dream come true. While I had a great experience, it was nothing what I thought it would be and it didn't really matter that much in the end.
