Hey there! Perhaps it is wise for you to explain the rationale behind your opinion to help them understand your reasons for thinking so. This will enable them to see things from your perspective which may aid you and your family in coming to a consensus!

I think it would help to map out your thoughts on the issue, the reason you don't want to go, what you would be doing with that time, etc. as well as think of and research counterarguments for any concerns they might have. Being prepared can help the discussion go a lot smoother. It can help too if you're worried you'll get nervous or lose your temper as you'll be prepared with answers to their questions. I hope this helps, good luck :)

Parents usually want their children to go to college so they can secure a living for their kid and know that their child will have a future because well, nothing can be done without a diploma. However, if you wish not to go to college the best thing might be telling your parents you alternative plan that would be so well put to the part that they can't say no. Some parents of course will still disagree but as long as you have explained everything and told them your true dreams. you'll just have to explain to them that you are the master of your life. And that you know what your doing in your life simply because it is yours. Good luck!

Let them know at this point in your life you are not ready to go to college. Also, if you have other plans i.e.: military, trade school etc. let them know.

Figure out what you want to do for a living. Research what is necessary to do this and make a plan. Then approach your parents with your plan. You will find that many jobs now do require some sort of education beyond high school.

If you are 100% sure that without a college you will be able to self-cope and live on your own, then talk to your parents. Create for them a plan of your actions that will show them that without college your life will be beautiful and successful. Or just share your thoughts why you do not want to go there and why their support is so important to you. If this option is not suitable, I would try to become independent of them now and live separately. I can not even imagine how difficult it is for you now. And therefore I want to wish you strength and patience, I hope you will manage to resolve this conflict.

First off, It is completely okay to not want to go to college. There is a right path for every person, it just might not be the right path for you personally. It is important to stay calm during such a situation, it can be sometimes a little shocking for parents to hear that their child doesn't want to go to college. Make sure to be clear why this isn't something you want to be doing. Present a plan to your parents on how you will be going about things (parents always like it when we plan ahead). Make sure that you're also hear out their side and listening to what they are trying to say. No matter what, remember that this is your life and your decision. Good luck!

There are no easy way when it comes to communication. The answer is usually very simple but hard to execute. What helps is taking charge of the conversation (not in a authority type of way, but in a proactive way), by telling them that you need to share some things that are very important to you. If you can show them that you have really thought about this and you have considered all your options, more often than not, they would take it under consideration despite their initial reaction. After this comes patience and dedication. You do not have control over their end reaction, but you can show your character. Remember to breathe
