When speaking to authority, you should refer to them as Sir/ ma'am . This is a respectful way to talk to authority. Speak confidently and ask as many questions as u would like. They are there to help you, after all. Avoid repeating what you say unless asked to.

Prepare what you want to say in advance. Think about the message you want to send, what you want to say, and how you want to say it. Consider how different interactions may have different outcomes. How well do you know the authority figure you are speaking to? What is their personality like? Speaking up to authority takes practice! Try not to get too down on yourself if it doesn't go well the first time around.
