When you wake up, not from an alarm clock or anything, that is your body telling you that you have had enough sleep. You may want to rest some more, but your body doesn't need it so it tells you no.

There are many reasons for that, one of them (from my personal experience) is that you have too many things going on on your mind or something is wrong with the environment you're sleeping in. Working on shifts doesn't help either with this situation.

This is actually one of the symptoms to mental disorders like depression. If it disrupts the total hours of sleep you're getting, it's good to see a professional regarding your sleep and see how they could guide you to achieve better sleep. Otherwise, you could consider deep muscle relaxation or any other guided relaxation therapies to give your body the rest it deserves. All the best!

I have this problem sometimes. Usually it's because my mind is too busy. If I'm wide awake, I go eat something, have some chocolate milk, then lay in bed listening to music, singing along in my head until I fall back asleep.
