I struggle to sleep at night because that is when I'm alone, that is when my thoughts get louder and take over. During the day when i'm around people, they drown out the thoughts and the tiredness kicks in

An answer would be you are thinking too much at night. Sleeping is more complex then you think, your mind, mentality, physical body, and spirit. When sleeping, all of these has to be relaxed and working together. If one is out of hand sleep will be tougher. The reason why sleep is easier during the day is because your body and mind is extremely worn out from sleep deprivation.

Depends. In some cases its because people have their sleep schedule messed up and the body isnt used to sleeping at a certain time, for example, till 3-4am

My focus on the lack of sleep keeps me awake at night. I know I have to get early up next morning, and thus I'm focusing too much on the fact that I need to sleep to get through the next day.

It may be because you're not getting enough sleep at night, so you're sleeping during the day instead. This creates a feedback loop; because you're sleeping during the day, you're too well rested to sleep at night, which leads to you sleeping during the day again (and so on and so forth). Consider withstanding the urge to sleep during the day, and getting your body back onto a normal biological clock.
