There could be any number of reasons for your nightmares. Some medications are known to cause peculiar dreams (nightmares) as a side effect, though simply eating before bed has also been known to increase the likelihood of nightmares. Traumatic events in our lives can also be responsible, though nightmares sometimes just come out of nowhere. While this is perfectly normal, I recommend that you speak with a physician if you're very concerned (and especially if this is a side effect of your medication).

Our dreams are made up of our experiences, especially those we experienced that day. If you're having nightmares, practice mindfulness throughout the day to see if you can catch any negative thoughts or fears that may be disrupting your sleep. Going through relaxation techniques before bed may also help relax your mind and prepare it for a restful sleep. Best of luck.
