It's because your mind is still trying to process everything. I listen to this podcast, personally. It puts me to sleep, but listening to calming music or books may help distract your mind as well

I guess it's because you're relaxed, so it's easier for your mind to start to wonder and imagine a bunch of scenarios.

Sometimes your mind has had so much to deal with during the day it is hard for it to process everything without letting you sleep. I have always found that being at university and having so much work that I have to do something before I go to bed that allows me to slowly wind down after a long day. Sometimes that's going for a swim, watching some Netflix, playing the piano or just simply having a shower. The worst thing I have found is looking at a my emails last thing at night!

Going to sleep is a struggle for a lot of people. There's so much stimulus in our world that it's hard to tune it out. Work, school, friends, family, personal matters can come to the forefront when we finally lay our heads down. Taking a moment before bed to write down or think about what happened in you day can help. Meditation and ambient noise (there are a few really good apps for both to those things) can help settle you mind when going to sleep. I also found logging my food and coffee intake for a few weeks pointed out that depending on the time of day certain foods and amounts of caffeine were making settling my mind at night more difficult.
