Generally when I can't stop thinking it's because I've had a long day with little time to think about the events that are occurring, so when i finally lay down and rest, i also have a chance to sort through that days emotions and events.

Have you been watching TV or any other screen? The blue in the light mimics daylight. You might want to try F:Lux, it changes your monitors colour to a colour-space more suitable to night environments. It's *not* good for colour-grading your pictures, but it might help on sleep time ^.^

your mind does what it wants, i think. When you are a bit nervous of for example school tomorrow your mind thinks about it all the time, even if you do not want it.
