Anxiousness could be the cause. Lots of thoughts swirling in your head can prevent you're brain from shutting down at night. Writing them out (you don't even need to try to solve them) or trying a mindfulness meditation (which you can find a guided video on Youtube) can help to calm your mind down.

U likely have a sleep disorder, insomnia being the most common and well known one. There is different type and causes of insomnia. There is lots of information on sleep disorders available on the internet. I recommend doing a search of a list of sleep disorder to try to figure about which one or two your symptoms most closely identify with. Use wikipedia and a search engine to find out more information on those illnesses and how you can treat. speak to a professional about your sleep issue, and seek advice.

there could be a variety of things keeping you up at night, but heres a few: eating too soon to bed keeps your body up and digesting food. using electronics isn't good for your eyes too close to bed, as the led lights can signal daytime, which means time to be awake! another reason you can't fall asleep is you're too warm, its easier to sleep when its a little cooler.

I've often experienced this myself. For me the problem is generally that I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. So instead of lying in bed and maybe thinking about this and that or worrying about something or getting distressed about being unable to sleep, I get up and do something, e.g. meditate or read a book (but NOT a distressful book) for a while, and then try to get back to sleep again. This works surprisingly often for me. Often it's my mind that is making me unable to sleep, because I can't stop thinking about something. So to get up and distract my mind for a while sometimes helps me fall asleep again.

You could have insomnia, which is something I used to struggle with until I was prescribed with Melatonin. It could also be due to a number of other things, such as the blue light from your phone screen or stress and anxiety.

i would say it's due to you having something on your mind that is stimulating your brain enough to keep you awake.
