Sleep needs vary greatly from person to person. The CDC recommends at least 7 hours for adults but some people need as little as 5 and others might need as much as 10. Cardiovascular health and diet can influence this and accumulated sleep debt can also alter your needs. Healthy sleeping habits are key. Put your phone away and don't look at it before bed and not again until you wake up. Dont drink caffeinated or very sugary drinks before bed. Try to go to bed at the same time every night, even on days off, and see how much sleep you need when you sleep in. If you fall into a good routine, your body will let you know if you need more or less.

Officially, they say people should sleep around 8h a day. Technically, each person has their own need. I've noticed that people with mental disorders needed more hours of sleep because living with those disorders takes away more energy from you than someone who's considerate neurotypical. Oversleeping is as bad as undersleeping: both will cause chronical sleepiness and destroy your body. Relaxation, clean bed, clean air, music help to get the «mood» to be able to sleep. Having a pre-bed ritual aslo helps, not only to relaxe you but to also regulate your brain into knowing when bed time is. And finally, when nothing works, supplements can help, with a doctor suppervision!
