I think a good way to have a calm mind at night is to write down the things you usually worry about and just write your thoughts, it would be good to write how you are dealing with those problems too. Preferably, do it earlier within the day and not right before you sleep because if you do it before you sleep I think your mind would just be more of a mess. This technique was in 'the insomnia workbook' written by stephanie silberman.

Some things you can do to calm your mind so you can get a better night of sleep is talking deep breathes to help ease your mind, getting yourself full of energy so you can have a better chance in falling asleep too.

You can calm yourself by thinking of something that makes you happy. You can also count in your head, or control your breathing.

To calm my mind at night and getting to sleep helped distraction the most. In evenings try not to get distressed or otherwise triggered (quarrel with spouse for example). If you can't fall asleep while trying to fall asleep in the bed because your mind is racing, take something to read (book, newspaper - in paper form preferably) and read. You can also watch tv (set very quiet, watch subtitles rather in order not to awaken other people) or you can read or watch something on computer, but do it only if blue light doesn't affect you. When your mind calms down or you start feeling tired again, turn off the light and go to bed again.

Sleeping at night can cause many problems to occur that we don't like getting. I would definitely turn off all electronics at least 15 minutes before you go to sleep so you have 0 distractions at night. Also, it is incredibly important not to strain your eyes by staring at a screen for more than 5 hours a day. In terms of calming your mind, listen to a tape of a guided mediation or practice several breathing exercises to clear your mind of any distraught and lingering thoughts that may arise at night. Well, I hope this helps in some way!
