It is within the norm of depression to feel that way. In fact, it's considered one of the diagnostic criteria to have abnormal sleeping and/or eating patterns as a result. If your mind is racing, try and find a good book kor movie to help relax.

Indeed it is. It is a feeling of fatigue. When we are in such a lowered energy everything with the body will begin to lower as well from energy to emotions, to response, to overall wellbeing.

It is very normal. I have experienced this and it felt like I can't do anything. I did not have the energy to get out of bed, take a shower, or eat. BUT, things will get better. I personally have to take medicine to help uplift my mood and energy. But there are other ways you can help yourself: eating well, exercising, or simply taking short walks outside. I know that seems impossible to do when you're in a depression funk, but try it even once. One step at a time. And you'll eventually get into the habit and feel more energized.

Yes, this is one of the key symptoms of depression. A lack of energy that makes you want to go back to sleep all the time is very common. It is part of the chemical make up of your body, particularly in your cerebral cortex, being 'depressed' rather than 'stimulated' or 'energized'. There's a complex mixture of chemical stimulation your brain needs to regain your feeling of being awake, alert, and motivated. Exercise can help release some of these chemicals, called endorphins into the blood stream. Other activities like doing art, listening to music, & dancing can release them too. It takes a long time to build up enough of the chemical stimulation in your brain to feel 'normal' again. So be patient, keep trying and talk to your doctor about how best to regain your energy levels.
