Yes! Hiding/getting rid of any objects you can self-harm with can decrease the urge to self-harm as they aren't really available for you to just grab. It's also a really good idea to try other coping techniques as they can produce the same effect without the negative impacts on your body.

Absolutely. If you actually out in the effort of bettering yourself it is absolutely possible. There was a good three years of my life where self harm was my biggest vice, I thought I would never be able to stop. But I don't even think about it anymore!! With some really good friends and a supportive family, as well as some professional help, it is completely possible to resist. There are also several other things you can do in place of the self harming. Like drawing on your skin with a soft topped pen or marker. Or running ice on where you want to hurt yourself. I personally used to write. But the biggest thing to remember is that you're not alone, and you don't deserve the pain you cause yourself.
