It's a relief to let out some pain. Usually when I self harm it's because I'm feeling a lot of emotional pain, and the physical pain is a way to match what I'm feeling inside.

Sometimes it helps you calm down if you have a lot of emotions and you can't find any other way. Or it makes you feel alive when you are emotionally numb. Either way, there are much better solutions than cutting to solve those problems.

I feel like self harm might make you feel better because it gives a person relief, and it's a punishment that you give yourself for being yourself. There are many alternatives to self harm, and I think we all need to find that best fits us. :) Good luck, everyone.

It makes you feel as if you are killing the problems on the inside by hurting the outside, setting them free almost. It makes you forget everything because you are so focused on what you are doing and the pain it causes that you cannot seem to focus on anything else at that time. Self harm should never be the answer it can seriously harm you.

Self harm is a coping mechanism that more often than not is either to make a person feel something or help a person control what they are feeling.

It makes me feel better because I feel like I can control how I feel. For example if something happens that makes me sad, I feel out of control and feel the need to get back control

Self harm is used as a coping method as people see it as a "way out "for their problems.although this may help them it certainly is not a healthy way to cope with your problems and if people do act like this then instead of questioning the cuts or whatnot try seeing their problems from their point instead of your own as this instead can cause more problems then solving and is in most castes can be confusing or can be painful or in some castes can be overwhelming for the person to take in and should be spoke about with compassion.

Self harm is hard to understand when you have not been through it yourself. Many people have different reasons as to why they self harm but, I have found that most people use self harm as an escape. As a way to let the pain that you are feeling internally to leave your body, as a release. Some people use it as a way to actually feel something, as a lot of people with mental health issues just feel numb, so they feel as though inflicting a type of pain on themselves will make them feel something again, as people believe that feeling pain is better than feeling nothing at all. However, self harm is never the answer. Talking about things, getting things off your chest and seeking help are the best and most effective ways to deal with your issues.

Self-harm makes you feel better because you're letting go/releasing the pain inside of you physically. But it also has its harming effects and can hurt people around you.
